Home Hearing Tests

Not everyone can get to a clinic easily — and not everyone should have to. We arrange full hearing tests carried out in your own home, across Sligo, Galway, Donegal, Cavan, Roscommon, Leitrim, Mayo, Clare, Westmeath and Longford, with a qualified, independent audiologist, ideal if travel is difficult.

Why a home hearing test?

No travel, no waiting room — just a proper hearing test, in a room you're comfortable in. It's especially useful for older adults, anyone with mobility difficulties, or if a family member is booking on someone else's behalf.

What happens during a home visit

  • The audiologist brings professional, portable testing equipment to your door — no travel or waiting room needed.
  • They'll ask a few questions about your hearing history before carrying out the test itself.
  • Results are explained clearly on the spot, along with any next steps — there's no obligation either way.
  • The whole appointment usually takes around 30 to 45 minutes.

Booking for an elderly parent or relative

Many of our enquiries come from adult children booking a hearing test for an elderly parent who finds travelling difficult, lives alone, or has been putting off getting checked. You're welcome to handle the booking, give your own contact number, and be there on the day if that helps them feel more comfortable.

Not sure if you need one?

Frequently asked questions

What happens during a home hearing test?
A qualified audiologist visits with professional portable equipment, asks about your hearing history, carries out the test, and talks you through the results there and then — including next steps if needed.
Can I book on behalf of a parent or relative?
Yes — a large share of our home visits are booked by an adult child on behalf of a parent. Just include their details and your own contact number when you enquire.
Can I book a home hearing test for an elderly parent who lives alone?
Yes, this is one of the most common reasons people get in touch. Give your own contact number when you enquire so we can coordinate the appointment time with you, and you're welcome to be there on the day, or to arrange for another family member or carer to be present instead.
How do I get my hearing checked?
Use the callback form on this page, and let us know whether you'd prefer a clinic appointment or a home visit. We'll get back to you — usually the same day — to arrange a hearing test with a qualified, independent audiologist.
Do I need a hearing test?
If you've noticed any changes — asking people to repeat themselves, the TV getting louder, or struggling in noisy places — it's worth having your hearing checked. See our Signs of Hearing Loss guide, or just get in touch if you're unsure.
Is there an online hearing test?
We don't offer an online self-test — what we arrange is a proper hearing test with a qualified audiologist, using professional equipment, either at a clinic or in your own home. It takes a bit more time than an online quiz, but gives you a result you can actually rely on.
How long does a hearing test take?
Most appointments take around 30 to 45 minutes in total, including time for questions and to talk through your results.
Which areas do you cover?
We arrange home hearing tests across Sligo, Galway, Donegal, Cavan, Roscommon, Leitrim, Mayo, Clare, Westmeath and Longford.
