New Hearing Aid Fittings & Upgrades

Whether you need a new hearing aid or want to upgrade your hearing aid to something better suited to you now, we arrange consultations and fittings with a qualified, independent audiologist across Sligo, Galway, Donegal, Cavan, Roscommon, Leitrim, Mayo, Clare, Westmeath and Longford, including home visits where needed.

Getting a new hearing aid

It starts with a hearing test, so the audiologist has a clear picture of your hearing. From there, they'll talk you through whether a new hearing aid would help, what options would suit your situation, and what to expect from fitting through to follow-up adjustments. See our guide to hearing aid types if you'd like to understand the general options first.

Hearing aid upgrades

Hearing aids don't last forever, and hearing needs can change over time. If your current one feels less effective, needs frequent repairs, or you're just curious what's changed since you were last fitted, it may be worth an upgrade. An audiologist can assess whether upgrading your hearing aid would genuinely help — there's no obligation either way.

If yours mostly just needs cleaning, a minor repair, or a routine check, see Hearing Aid Servicing & Check-Ups instead.

What do hearing aids cost in Ireland?

Prices vary by technology level, but hearing aids in Ireland typically range from around €1,000 to €6,000 for a pair, according to reporting in the Irish Times. Hearing aids also qualify as a medical expense for tax relief, usually at 20% of the cost. Your audiologist will give you a clear, specific price once they know what would suit your hearing and needs. See our full guide to hearing aid prices in Ireland.

Help toward the cost

The PRSI Treatment Benefit scheme may be able to provide a contribution toward the cost of a hearing aid if you meet the conditions. See our Hearing Aid Grant page for a general guide, or check directly with the Department of Social Protection for your own entitlement.

Home visits

If travelling to a clinic is difficult, let us know when you enquire — we can look at arranging your consultation at home, in the same way we do for home hearing tests.

Frequently asked questions

How do I know if I need a hearing aid?
The starting point is a proper hearing test with a qualified audiologist. They'll assess your hearing and talk you through whether a hearing aid would help, based on your results and day-to-day needs.
How much do hearing aids cost?
In Ireland, hearing aids typically range from around €1,000 to €6,000 for a pair, depending on the technology level — reported by the Irish Times. Hearing aids also qualify as a medical expense for tax relief (usually 20% of the cost). How do I know if it's time to upgrade my hearing aid?
Signs worth having checked include your current hearing aid feeling less effective than it used to, ongoing discomfort, frequent repairs, or simply wanting to see what's improved since you were last fitted. An audiologist can assess whether an upgrade would genuinely help.
How long does it take to get used to a new hearing aid?
This varies by person. Most people need some time to adjust, and your audiologist will usually arrange a follow-up to fine-tune the fit and settings once you've been wearing it a while.
Do you offer home visits for hearing aid fittings?
If travelling is difficult, let us know when you enquire — we can look at arranging a home visit for your consultation, in the same way we do for hearing tests.
